Wylies Baths, Coogee, Sydney

Having lived in Sydney all my life & at Coogee for a brief period in my youth,  I have never been to the delightful Wylies Baths. On our regular sketching/painting trips around Sydney, we spent a gorgeous summers day there last week. Recently read Harbourlights, art & times of artist Peter Kingston, who was also intrigued by the historic sea baths & has done a wonderful painting of it. He is passionate about preserving & recording our history around our beautiful harbour.

The baths were established in 1907 by Henry Wylie a champion long distance swimmer. His daughter Mina [Wilhelmina] Wylie, along with Fanny Durak were Australias first two female olympic representatives. Winning silver & gold at 1912 Stockholm Olympics in swimming.
